Italian Juventus announced its football club had a profit of EUR 5.4 million for the second quarter, ending Dec. 31, 2007.
That was a raise from EUR 3.6 million. Higher sales offset costs, rising 32.4 percent in the quarter to EUR 53 million.
Operating costs rose 27.8 pct to EUR 40.7 million. That was attributed to higher player costs and TV rights.
Player acquisitions cost EUR 63.9 million. Player sales took in EUR 12.2 million.
Juventus again said it was forecasting a year loss as it rebuilds its first team.
