English Manchester United is trying to reclaim the title of world's richest club.
Club officials said they believe, with conversion rates factored in, that Manchester United is EUR 12 better off than Spanish Real Madrid. The English club reported GBP 245 million gross revenue for the year ending June 2007.
The club also revealed a GBP 59.6 million profit for the same period.
Club chief executive David Gill credited the owners, the Glazer family, for shrewdly guiding the club.
"They are excellent results which reflect a fantastic season on the pitch and also the work that has gone on off the pitch, with the expansion of the stadium and the new shirt deal so we are very pleased," Gill told Sky Sports News. "The Glazers are not in this for publicity or ego - but they have been true to their word.
