Salary cuts dramatically reduced debt

The 18 clubs in the Superliga finished the 2003/04 season with debts of just €1.2m, according to a report by accountants Deloitte and Touche. Debts in the previous campaign ran as high as €70m. The results show a major reduction in costs at clubs which was achieved through restricting salaries after signing players.
