The First Division club, which was relegated from the Allsvenskan last season, is involved in a dispute with their players over a plan to reduce salaries up to 40%. AIK executive director, Mats Björeskog, told the paper: “We were hoping that everything would have been settled before the season started this week. But the discussion with the players’ juridical representative is being held in a positive manner and I am expecting that this has been settled within the next two weeks”. Former AC Milan and Newcastle United forward Andreas Andersson is one of nine players who have so far refused to agree the new salaries and to reduce his monthly wage from €11,000 to around €7,500.
