Chelsea could be on the verge of becoming one of the top five earning clubs in Europe.
The English club is expected to announce in January that it has an annual turnover of GBP 200 million. The final revenue figure could place Chelsea in the elite money-earning category of Spanish clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona, fellow English club Manchester United and Italian AC Milan.
Arsenal already announced it had become the first club in English history to top the GBP 200 million mark in turnover. But Arsenal only turned a GBP 51 million operating profit.
Chelsea has seen a gradual increase in profit under the ownership of Roman Abramovich, losing GBP 80 million for the year ending June 2006.
