EPO will let PAOK play

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
After guaranteeing it would cover its EUR 6 million debt, the Hellenic Soccer Federation (EPO) said soccer club PAOK will be allowed to participate in Greek and European competition.

An appeals committee reversed an EPO decision from one week earlier, which had ruled that the club could not take part in the UEFA Cup or Greek league. PAOK had qualified for the competition after finishing sixth. PAOK provided a 6-million-euro check as a guarantee that it will pay its debts, including EUR 1.8 millionit is thought to owe players and coaches.

EPO’s decision has to be allowed by UEFA, as it is believed that Atromitos — the team which would have replaced PAOK — is considering an appeal.
