The annual report of the Professional Football League (LFP)'s financial watchdog showed that Ligue 1 clubs had lost €35.8m during the 2003/04 season, a significant improvement from the 2002/03 term which has been concluded with lost of €151m. The impressive recovery took place before the re-negotiation of the record TV rights deal with pay channel Canal Plus guarantying €600m each season in the next three years. Paris Saint Germain top the losses reported with €31m, while Monaco who was close to bankruptcy two years ago, boasts the best figures with €21m profit, mainly due its recent UEFA Champions League runs.
