The US Soccer Federation (USSF) officials have settled its pay dispute with the US men's national team players association (USMNTPA), ending a threat by senior squad members to take strike action for next month's FIFA World Cup qualifier, various media has reported. The players’ union has accepted a 38% pay increase, in exchange for no strike action in 2005, which means that the remainder of the USA’s FIFA World Cup qualifying programme can be completed with its strongest team. “We're very pleased the union has accepted our latest proposal and given us the assurance that there will be no strikes for any US soccer activity through the duration of the year," US Soccer president Dr S Robert Contiguglia was quoted as saying in a statement. Contiguglia added that negotiations between the two parties needs to continue regarding a new Collective Bargaining Agreement: “We certainly believe that moving forward in this manner can help the two parties reach a collective bargaining agreement that is not only good for the long-term growth of the sport in the US, but is also good for our National Team players and our millions of members," Contiguglia reportedly added.
