Derby County looking for outside cash

English Derby County is actively seeking financial input from outsiders.

Club chairman Peter Gadsby said the club needs help earning funds off the pitch, without fear of a take over. The idea is to generate income for a 120,000 square foot complex near the club's home stadium of Pride Park.

"We have put in a planning application for a complex to include a hotel, shops, eateries and offices," Gadsby said. "We are seeking GBP 10 million to do that, which has led people to believe the club is on the market. But we are seeking a partner to put money into the club."

Gadsby also believes it is the best way to keep the club competitive in the Premier League. Derby County is struggling at the end of the table this season.

"You have to have stability, and a club that is able finance itself," Gadsby said. "So we need to be able to generate income year after year to enable us to stay in the Premier League."
