Some Spanish clubs owe outstanding debts to its players and, according to the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE), the debts must be paid immediately or the clubs could be relegated.

Celta Vigo are one of the most high-profile sides with debts to pay, approximately EUR 600,000 behind. The total debt is approaching EUR 14.7 million.

Vecindario, Hércules, Valladolid, and Elche are also in debt to players. Segunda Liga club Alaves will not be able to pay off the complete debt of EUR 5.1 million, but will not be relegated due to legal intervention.
