English Preston North End said it recorded a first-half pretax profit of GBP 1.82 million, a jump of GBP 3.14 million from a first-half loss of the previous period a year ago.

Sales of player registrations led to a GBP 4.83 million profit this time. That helped the club bounce back from a GBP 1.34 million loss over the first half in 2006.

Revenue for the period to Dec 2007 grew to GBP 4.24 million, a seven percent rise over the previous accounting period.
