The second phase of the UEFA EURO 2012 bidding process took place in Nyon, with potential bidders handing over their dossiers.
Three candidates: Croatia-Hungary, Italy, and Poland-Ukraine, presented bids before handing over the official dossiers to UEFA President Lennart Johansson and Chief Executive Lars-Christer Olsson.
The next steps of the process involve evaluating bids and site visits to the nations. The host site will be announced by the UEFA Executive Committee at Nyon on 8 December 2006.
The Croatia-Hungary delegation was headed by Croatia Prime Minister Ivo Sanader. Giancarlo Abete, vice-president of the Italian Football Federation, represented Italy, and former Olympic champions Serhiy Bubka and Irena Szewinska presented the Poland-Ukraine dossier.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate the three candidates for having got this far in the bidding process,” Johansson said. “You have all shown great commitment and involvement throughout this whole procedure. I was very pleased with the quality of your phase-one dossiers and we look forward to going through the second ones as well. You are competing to host one of the world's top sporting competitions.”
