Franz Beckenbauer, the president of the organization committee for the FIFA 2006 World Cup has informed the German football fans that a limited number of tickets will be available for the host country’s tournament games. Teams competing receive 8% of tickets for their games with the other 30 nations taking a 4% allocation each. Numerous tickets are reserved for the sponsors and organizers as well as packages for certain stadiums or groups before the draw is made. The remaining tickets are going on worldwide sale in February 2005. Beckenbauer also expressed concerns that the limited number of tickets could increase the possibility of supporters seeking tickets on the black market, with internet touting a particular worry.
