The football governing body released a statement explaining that the Strategic Studies Committee’s proposals for a reduction in the number of matches played globally each year is accepted.  The changes would need concessions from every party and interest group involved, including FIFA, the regional confederations, associations, leagues and clubs. International match calendar will ensure adequate rest days (at least 8) and training days (at least 17) for international players before the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
