FIFA to discuss ending the FL's transfer window exemption

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

FIFA is to meet in December to discuss the possibility of ending the exemption the Football League has from the transfer window process. Currently, Football League clubs can continue to trade with each other and sign players from Premier League clubs outside the transfer window period. “For some time we have been seeking to persuade FIFA not just to continue our dispensation to trade amongst ourselves on a year-round basis but also to allow us to trade on the same basis with Premier League  clubs. We will lobby the European Commission and look forward to further meetings with FIFA before it makes its decision in December” told Football League chairman Sir Brian Mawhinney to media.
