FIFA to force a reduction in the number of clubs in domestic leagues

FIFA president Sepp Blatter believes that tired players from long and demanding club seasons have made the quality of football in UEFA Euro 2004 tournament to suffer. Blatter sees setting a limit of 18 teams per top-flight league as the only way to solve the situation, and he is ready to force the reduction of clubs in Europe’s top domestic leagues. “We will impose a limit via FIFA statutes either by congress or by the executive committee” said Blatter to media.
