“The UEFA licensing is the long-term wellbeing of the game” said UEFA Chief Executive Lars-Christer Olsson. The club licensing system is based on a series of sporting and administrative criteria. In order for a club to be admitted to any of the UEFA club competitions, minimum standards in areas including infrastructure, personnel, administration, and legal and financial matters must be fulfilled.  The license scheme has been entered since in recent years, many clubs have indulged in a kind of 'financial doping' to keep going.  Now, clubs will need to have properly audited figures and sound finances to play in the UEFA competitions. “That's a good step” said Olsson “it will help everyone stay responsible for the future of the game."
