UEFA president Michel Platini holds that rumours that Poland and Ukraine will be denied the opportunity to co-stage EURO 2012 are too forward.
It has been reported that the countries are encountering significant setbacks in building the appropriate accommodations for the competition, and that the countries may have to forfeit hosting to Spain.
Platini explained that he does not wish to discuss the issue during the current European Championship, and that he plans to visit the two countries this week.
"I know that certain people are already talking about the possibility of giving the competition to another country which could be Spain. At the present moment however, that's an unfounded rumour," Platini said.
The UEFA president's visit will be to evaluate the construction progress.
The Kiev's Olympic Stadium, which intends to host the final, is far behind schedule in renovations. In addition to this, roads, airports and railways have to be completed before the tournament. Work has also not started on the new stadium in the Polish capital.
Poland and Ukraine, who were awarded the competition in April last year, have admitted that preparations had fallen behind because of political instability in both countries.
Platini also disclosed plans to have future European Championships at the start of the season. Players will be less worn this way, and Platini believes that it will strengthen the response to the competition.
