Israel matches delayed until after appeal

The Israeli Premier League has postponed contests this week after clubs claimed an unfair edge for a rival in a relegation battle.
An appeal is pending 28 April with the Israeli Football Association. A 2-0 technical victory was granted to Maccabi Herzliya on 13 April when the pitch was overrun by Beitar Jerusalem fans in the 86th minute. Herzliya, traling 1-0 at the time, was granted the victory due to the stoppage.
The delay in matches comes after six of the seven clubs facing potential relegation protested that they would not play the next round of matches until the Herzliya affair was settled. All six clubs, however, said they would respect the final decision of the IFA's supreme tribunal next week.
Five matches remain in the season, and only six points separate the bottom seven clubs. Herzliya is at 32 with the technical victory. Bnie Yehuda is at 26.
The tribunal also will hear an appeal from Beitar. The club was hit with a two-point penalty and fined, as well as a four-point docking for next season due to the fan reaction.
