The major European football leagues will support UEFA president Michel Platini's changes to the Champions League format.
Platini wanted to limit participation to three clubs from each nation, and include the national cup winner from each nation. Federations from England, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain all have given their endorsements.
The French Football Federation (FFF) released a statement saying that all sides had agreed to the deal.
Each federation now must gain support from its members – the clubs themselves. That might not be a popular move, as club associations such as the G14 have not embraced Platini's plan.
"We share the desire expressed by the UEFA president to re-evaluate the national cups and open up a direct route for their winners into the Champions League," the statement added.
