Empoli failed in its appeal to gain a UEFA licence, missing the cut-off date to apply.
The Tuscan club had the chance to play in Europe next season following the outcome of the Italian match-fixing trial, and qualified for the UEFA Cup as a result of AC Milan's penlaty because of the match-fixing scandal.
However, Empoli missed the cut off date to apply for the UEFA licence. Empoli appealed to the Italian Football Federation in a bid to win a reprieve, but FIGC also have rejected the claim.
