Brazil is now the odds-on favourite to host the 2014 World Cup, as the nation was confirmed as the only one to reach the bidding stage.
The nation was going against fellow South American nation Colombia for tournament rights. But Colombia dropped from the running this week.
Brazil still needs to meet the necessary technical requirements and provide sufficient government guarantees.
South America was due to host 2014 under the rotation system but FIFA president Sepp Blatter said the World Cup could be moved if Brazil failed to offer a strong bid.
Brazil has until the end of July to formulate the bid. FIFA's executive committee is due to make a final decision in November.
