Finnish football has been shaken by an alleged betting scandal and now an agent has revealed that he was offered 530,000 to fix a game in the Premier League. The Finnish football authorities are currently investing the game between Haka and Alliansi, which Haka won 8-0.
Alliansi, who were taken over by a Chinese businessman appointed a Belgian coach. The coach drafted in six players and played the game against Haka with those six players and reserve team players. Afterwards it was revealed that millions of euros had been put on Alliansi to lose the game by several goals on the Asian betting market.
And now an unnamed Swedish agent has revealed that he was asked to fix a game. "This is becoming a big problem in European football," he told Aftonbladet. "It is threatening to damage football seriously. Sooner or later there may be someone who falls for it here in Sweden as well. There is a lot of money involved. The game he was asked to fix involved a team from one of Sweden's three largest cities Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo in the earlier rounds of one of the European competitions. The agent was offered 100,000 as well as 430,000 to give to the club in question. "I was supposed to ask them to play for a certain result but I was never going to accept that," said the agent.
