EURO tournament looking at 24 team future

UEFA president Lennart Johnsson believes EORO 2012 will be expanded from 16 teams to 24.

Johansson said the Scottish Football Association's proposal will almost assuredly be accepted at the UEFA Congress in Duesseldorf on Jan. 25-26.

One reason is that small countries find it difficult to qualify for the final tournament.

"On the other side, the best players from small countries regularly play in the elite leagues," Johansson said. "The difference in quality between national teams is smaller than before."
