Federal prosecutor Alberto Fumagalli has called for the relegation of Serie B club Modena and a three-year suspension for the club's president, Romano Amadei, and sports director Doriano Tosi, for allegedly trying to bribe a referee. The controversy regards Chievo's 2-0 defeat of Modena in Serie A on 2 May 2004. Modena has already denied that it tried to alter the course of the match during a hearing at the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) but started the current campaign in 2005 four points in deficit because of a previous occasion when it was found guilty of match fixing.
