Albert Pujols is helping Major League Soccer (MLS) attain its goal of establishing an expansion franchise in St. Louis. The National League MVP has become the latest investor in businessman Jeff Cooper’s pursuit for a St. Louis-based team. Cooper has singled out Collinsville as the future home of a Midwest team, complete with new stadium.

In a recent St. Louis Post-Dispatch report, Pujols expressed his delight at becoming a part of the endeavour led by Cooper, indicating that he and his family are all MLS lovers and supporters. Cooper reiterated the sentiment, noting that Pujols’ involvement is "a big step forward" for the venture. He has yet to identify the remaining investors.

Pujols is no stranger to world of charity and bringing happiness to others; in 2005, he played an integral role in the formation of the Pujols Family Foundation, which brings assistance to the people affected by Down's Syndrome. Pujols currently plays for the St. Louis Cardinals and appears in the top 100 of the "List of the Top 500 home run hitters."
