Although that the credit crunch has somewhat impacted Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov personal fortune, he has purchased 48 more shares in English football club Arsenal last week.

The investment is worth GBP 374,000, or GBP 7,800 per share, and Usmanov now holds nearly a 25 percent stake in the club, making him the largest shareholder.

The timing of this move follows The Arsenal Supporter's Trust's inquiry last week about the possibility of Usmanov or American board member Stan Kroenke taking over the club.
