Napoli has been taken from owner Luciano Gaucci

The club was declared bankrupt, expelled from Serie B and told to reform as a new business and start again in Serie C1. However, club owner Luciano Gaucci, who only took over this summer, refused to accept the Italian Football Association ruling and pledged to get the club reinstated through legal proceedings. But Gaucci’s fight received a setback after regulators at the club’s bankruptcy trial took control of the club away from him and handed it to Italian film producer Aurelio De Laurentis for offering a more substantial recovery package, greater investment and securer guarantees for creditors than Gaucci was willing to provide.
