The Major League Soccer competition will expand from 10 teams to 12 teams in 2005 with the addition of Los Angeles-based club Chivas USA and Salt Lake City and plans to expand by a further two teams in the future. MLS commissioner Don Garber has announced that Seattle, Houston, San Antonio, Cleveland, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Rochester have expressed an interest in the running for future expansion franchises. Garber also revealed that the MLS will create reserve team starting from next season, in a model adopted by clubs from around the world.
