Major League Soccer expends to Salt Lake City

The decision to award a 2005 expansion place to Salt Lake City has been met with approval in US sports circles. “The inclusion of Salt Lake City is a very important step for MLS. Salt Lake City is a place of great vitality and achievement from a sports standpoint. The Utah Jazz has been one of the National Basketball Association (NBA) attendance leaders year after year” said Lamar Hunt, a respected figure in US soccer, inducted in the US Soccer Hall of Fame in 1982.
