Gillett examines MLS club for Montreal

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
After burning a path through the English Premier League, George Gillett is considering the purchase of an MLS club.

Gillett, as one of Liverpool's co-owners, has been at the centre of controversy for his ownership. But he has joined with lower-tier Montreal Impact to try and field an MLS club for that Canadian city.

Impact president Joey Saputo said he and Gillett have discussed a deal in which the pair would divide the USD 30million franchise as well as the USD 12 million expansion of the Saputo Stadium.

Gillett and Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks have been vilified for their running of Liverpool. Gillett has tried to sell out to Dubai International Capital, but Hicks has blocked him.
