Sullivan lashes out at Yeung for Birmingham takeover

David Sullivan, co-owner at English Birmingham City, said if Carson Yeung finally finishes his takeover of the club – a big "if" at this point – then Sullivan would end his 15-year tenure with the club.

There have been haggling and miscommunication between the two sides as Yeung has plowed forth with a rocky GBP 50 million takeover bid.

Sullivan has tried to cajole Yeung into speeding up the takeover process, but has not received a reply.

"Most members of the board would love to stay on and finish the job I started," Sullivan said. "Sadly I won't be one of them. Personally I cannot work with Carson and his consortium. You cannot do business with people you cannot communicate with.

"Despite sending repeated emails to his No. 2 explaining the position and the damage (a protracted takeover) like this could do to the team, I am still waiting for a reply some three weeks later. I cannot believe that Carson and his group do not realise how damaging their actions are for the club."

Those actions also have left Sullivan with no choice but to enforce the 23 Dec. deadline. No extensions will be granted. Sullivan said this all will be done – one way or the other – by Christmas.

The prolonged bid has caused major staffing problems. No contracts can be extended, including that of manager Steve Bruce.

"I'm shocked and disappointed that Yeung will not let the current board finalise a contract with our longest-serving and most successful manager," Sullivan said.
