Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment president Richard Peddie insists he is not interested in launching a bid for English Tottenham.
Peddie had been linked by sources in MLSE to a potential GBP 250 million buyout. Rumour was that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy wanted GBP 400 million.
"It's complete fiction," Peddie told the Toronto Star. "We're not interested in Tottenham at all.
"It's got a great history, obviously a very competitive team, I have admiration for what they've done and what they can do, but it's not on our watch list at all."
"To even speculate whether we're going to buy or not buy (any Premier League team) is premature," Peddie said.
"I attended a game at White Hart Lane. I took the train, went to a game, watched Tottenham tie and had lunch there. That was the full extent," Peddie told the National Post newspaper in Canada.
Whether it was the price discrepancy, a move to only get a feel for the club or whether the source and speculation were completely off, Peddie is not ready to bid yet. He denied meeting Levy to Canadian newspaper National Post. He said he only wanted to take in a Tottenham match while in England.
Levy has said he would consider an offer, but only if it was right for the shareholders.
