U.S. group takes control at Derby County

A U.S.-based group has taken over at English Derby County.

The company is General Sports and Entertainment (GSE), and it has experience in the NBA. The club's new owners have not been revealed.

The club verified that the takeover will not involve the club taking on any debt.

GSE chairman Andy Appleby, the fourth U.S. owner of a Premier League club, said he believed his group could help the club with its strategies in management, sales and marketing.

Chairman Adam Pearson will hold his position, with Appleby and Tom Glick joining him on the club's board. Glick is a former chief marketing officer for the NBA New Jersey Nets basketball team. Tim Hinchey, a former vice president of the NBA Charlotte Bobcats, also will join the club.
