Calderon's presidency ratified by Spanish Real Madrid election board

Real Madrid's electoral commission no longer considered Ramon Calderon's presidency provisional, but official in the eyes of the club.

On Monday, the club said Calderon, who was declared president on July 3, only held his position on a provisional basis pending the outcome of a legal ruling on the validity of the postal vote from the club's election.

"We ratify the decision we made on July 3 confirming the positions of Calderon and his board, whatever the outcome maybe of ongoing tribunals," the club said in a statement on its website.

"All the agreements being put in place are legally binding according to the club's statutes and are not provisional."

Two days before the July 2 election a judge backed complaints from two candidates that the postal vote should be temporarily suspended due to the lack of controls in place to guarantee their legitimacy.

One candidate, Juan Miguel Villar Mir, is fighting to have the postal vote included in the count, though he has said he will respect all decisions made by the board in the meantime.
