Wardle wants the best for Manchester City

Former English Manchester City star, Ray Ranson, appears to be one of the parties interested in taking over the club in a GBP 70 million bid but will probably not be the winner.

It is thought that John Wardle, chairman of Manchester city, favours a U.S. led consortium that promised it would not get the club into further debt. The head of the group has not been revealed to the public.

Wardle, who has been a life long Manchester City fan, owns almost 30 percent of the club along with his business partner David Makin. They also have GBP 20 million in outstanding loans but Wardle has the club's interests at heart and has no intention of making a deal just for the sake of it.

As part of the deal, he also wants manager Stuart Pearce to be given finances for transfers to strengthen his squad.

The club's board was given an update on the progress of preliminary talks but no announcements are expected until talks are further along.
