George Copos has ended 16 years in power at Romanian FC Rapid Bucharest with a sale of the majority of his shares to Jordanian Fathi Taher.

The sale prices was undisclosed. Copos said he cried when the sale was finalised, saying Taher's wealth could do more for the club than he could.

The sale figures were undisclosed. At one time, Taher considered spending EUR 40 million for an 80-percent stake.

The club won the Romanian championship twice, the national cup four times and reached the UEFA Cup quarterfinals once during Copos' time.
