Paul Gregg has jumped off the English Everton board, with he and his wife, Anita, selling their shares to BCR Sports.
BCR Sports is owned by Robert Earl, founder of the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain. It is likely that Earl is not yet interested in a spot on the club's board.
The Greggs likely recouped the GBP 7.2 million they paid for 23 percent of the club's 35,000 shares. Major shareholder Bill Kenwright owns 25 percent, and fellow director John Woods 19 percent.
Paul Gregg and Kenwright became locked in a battle for control of the club in 2004 but Kenwright, in alliance with Woods, always held more voting power than Gregg and his wife.
"If Bill has brokered this deal it can only be good for the club," said Kevin Nolan, vice-president of the group Everton Shareholders 2005. "He and John Woods are passionate in their support for Everton."
