With French Paris Saint-Germain about to change ownership hands, and with trouble on the pitch, club president Alain Cayzac resigned after a shareholder meeting.
The club is teetering on the verge of relegation.
Cayzac ended 22 months as club president. Manager Paul Le Guen is safe according to a club statement. A sporting adviser has been appointed to help matters.
"It's evidently not with a light heart that I quit my job as president of Paris St Germain," Cayzac was quoted as saying in a statement released by PSG. "And I regret that, for all my support and admiration for this club, the results aren't there. Whatever happens I will remain one of the top supporters of my club. I have always supported this club and have the absolute wish that we keep our place in Ligue 1 and win the Coupe de France on May 24 at the Stade de France."
