Wolverhampton purchase price sliced in half

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
English Wolverhampton has halved its asking price for the club.

Owner Sir Jack Hayward has slashed his asking price from GBP 40 million to GBP 20 million.

"I have always said that if someone comes in with some money we would be prepared to sell," Hayward said. "Originally we asked for GBP 40 million but maybe now it is time to change that valuation. Maybe now we would sell if someone came in with GBP 20 million that they were prepared to invest in the club.

"If they could promise that investment for team strengthening, we would be prepared to listen.

"I can't stress enough that I don't want a penny. The money from any proposed purchaser would go straight into the club."

Hayward said he has not lost interest in the club, and said he backs manager Mick McCarthy in the transfer market.
