English Charlton has thrown in the towel on takeover talks, with the club saying it will not be sold within the foreseeable future.
A Middle Eastern group was looking at the club. Charlton even hired a consultant to weigh the pros and cons of a takeover.
But the club has decided to stay the current course with chairman Richard Murray running the show.
"Following the conclusion of this strategic review, the board of Charlton have concluded that the best interests of Charlton and its shareholders are served under the current ownership and management structure," read a Stock Exchange statement. "As a result, all talks regarding possible offers for the company have now been discounted.
"The board of Charlton is committed to the long-term success and future of the company, including the provision of appropriate funding, so to ensure that the club is well placed to challenge for Premier League status."
