Wilde accepts invitation on Southampton board fight

Michael Wilde will get to say his mind Thursday to the Saints Trust, the Supporters Trust for English Southampton.

The Saints Trust extended an invitation to Wilde at an open meeting at the Northam Social club in Southampton. Representatives of Wilde, who is asking for the shareholders of Southampton Leisure Holdings to replace five members of the board with his own nominees at an EGM scheduled for 3 July, have accepted the invitation.

The Saints Trust hope that major shareholder Leon Crouch will also be available to take questions from the floor later the same evening. The Trust also extended an invitation to Rupert Lowe and members of the current board, but are still awaiting a decision as to whether or not they will come.

The Trust anticipate that the Wilde "manifesto" for change at the club will be released before the forum which will provide an opportunity for Trust Members to quiz the Wilde camp directly.

"This is a great opportunity for Saints fans to meet the new guys face to face and to ask them questions directly," said Janet Formby from the Saints Trust. "We really appreciate them agreeing to the meeting and it is hoped it will lead to Saints fans having a better understanding of just how the Wilde camp intend to take the club forward."

As for Lowe, Formby said, "The ball is in his court as to whether or not he wants to take it up."

The meeting is open to Saints Trust members although those wishing to join the trust will be able to get in on the night, depending on numbers.
