DIC plans to place fan on Liverpool board

Dubai International Capital (DIC) is finding more ways to play to the affections of English Liverpool fans, to bring them to their side of the battle for the control.

It seems while Gillett wants to sell, DIC has turned up the heat on Tom Hicks, who has blocked George Gillett's attempts to sell. The pressure is not in the boardroom, but comes with a series of PR moves designed to win the fans' support.

DIC now has offered a seat on the board to a Liverpool supporter, should the Dubai-based outfit take over the club.

DIC has had discussions with Spirit of Shankly (SOS), the club's supporters' group, over such a move.

"We are not a pro-Dubai lobby; however, we take their commitment to supporter representation on the board at face value," SOS chairman Neil Atkinson told the Telegraph. "They have seemed thoroughly decent so far and we expect them to follow through. It is an opportunity we take very seriously.

"The process of working out how to elect a representative is something that will take a great deal of care and consideration and SOS would want to consult as many supporters and agencies as possible to ensure everything is done correctly and above board."
