Sheffield boss confirms he will bid for Ferencvaros

English Sheffield United chairman Kevin McCabe confirmed he will make a try for Hungarian Ferencvaros.

"We are now planning the development of Ferencvaros," said McCabe, who is also the chairman and chief executive of property developer Scarborough Holdings Plc. "Real estate, leisure and football; that's what the business is built on."

The Hungarian club has faced mounting debt, and needs to sell. It's previous success undone of late by financial woes and a second-division relegation.

The expected price tag for the club and adjoining property should be in the range of EUR 30 million.

"We'll do the same thing we did with Sheffield," said McCabe, who also owns the Chinese Chengdu Blades. "Next to the stadium we have a hotel, restaurant, club, bar and offices. We have similar plans for Ferencvaros.

"This is what happens if a nation doesn't invest in football. We will do everything we can to give our teams the kind infrastructure they need to play high level football."
