Roma sale might fall through

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
All the worry and hand-wringing over foreign ownership might have been for nothing in Italy.

News outlets in the country are saying that George Soros has backed down from his plan to buy Roma after the club and Soros could not broker an agreement on selling price.

The Sensi family has been trying to sell after the club's parent company slipped into financial trouble. United States-based Soros seemed to be on the verge of a takeover.

That prompted concerns that Italy would become the new England with an influx of foreign owners. Even the league president said he welcomed some foreign investment, but did not want to see all his clubs come under foreign rule.
