After only his third month as Polish Football Association (PZPN) chairman, Grzegorz Lato could be replaced. The Szczecin court will rule to determine if Lato will have to step down.

The October election is being examined to ensure that all regulations were followed when Lato was given his current position. According to Polskie Radio, the Polish government is not satisfied with Lato's performance thus far, and it believes that his stance against corruption is soft. From the beginning, it was made clear that the government would have preferred Zbigniew Boniek as PZPN chairman. UEFA and FIFA will be involved in these findings, as these bodies believe that sports associations should not be controlled by the government.

The Ministry of Sport plans to decide on 24 January whether or not to call a special electoral board meeting discuss the issue.

The investigation into corruption in Polish football continues, with evidence emerging that the Polish FA failed to respond when they were informed about match fixing years ago.
