Six seats on the UEFA Executive Committee will be open for election after the current positions expire. Thirteen football administrators submitted their applications to fill the vacancies. The six seats are available for four-year terms for the period between 2007 and 2011.

Elections will take place at the XXXI Ordinary UEFA Congress in Dusseldorf, Germany on January 25 and 26.

Five of the Executive Committee members, whose offices are expiring, are up for re-election. They are Turkey's Senes Erzik, Spain's Angel Mara Villar Llona, Iceland's Eggert Magnusson, Malta's Joseph Mifsud and Switzerland's Giangiorgio Spiess.

Other candidates are Portugal's Gilberto Parca Madail, Ukraine's Grigoriy Surkis, Kazakhstan's Rakhat Aliyev, Andorra's Tomas Ga, Slovakia's Frantiek Laurinec, Lithuania's Liutauras Varanavicius, Croatia's Vlatko Markovi? and Romania's Mircea Sandu.

In addition, the terms of four European members of the FIFA Executive Committee will end at the FIFA Congress, which will be held from May 29-31, 2007 in Zurich, Switzerland. The elected UEFA President will automatically become vice-president of the FIFA Executive Committee.

Of the other two vice-president positions, a representative of one of the four British associations will occupy the seat currently occupied by David H. Will. It is up to those associations to nominate this representative who will hold the seat for a four-year term.

Spain's Angel Mara Villar Llona has applied for re-election as vice-president and if he is not elected vice-president, will contest Germany's Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder's position.

Franz Beckenbauer of Germany is also running for Mayer-Vorfelder's position.
