The expansion eventually will go beyond Europe for the G14.
With the group of 18 power clubs expanding and reaching out to other clubs throughout Europe, G14 general manager Thomas Kurth said he envisioned a worldwide alliance of clubs.
His goal is to challenge FIFA in terms of strength,
"There is a terrible need for an international club organization which is representative and which can defend the interests of clubs which have a major international dimension," Kurth told The Canadian Press. "There is also a plan to expand this beyond Europe at a later stage because there are many issues which are not limited to UEFA."
Kurth has been in touch with Argentine Boca Juniors and Brazilian Flamengo. He also has heard from clubs in North Africa and South Africa.
