European Club Association in its first general assembly
Pan-European - 08 July, 2008
A general assembly of the European Club Association (ECA) is taking place for the first time. Fifty-three UEFA nations will be represented, and more than 100 clubs are meeting during two days.
The assembly takes place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. The European Club Association, which is replacing the G14 group, is to consist of a 15-person board. English Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon and Liverpool's chief executive Rick Parry, will be taking seats on this new board.
Other English members on the board will include representatives from Arsenal, Newcastle and Manchester United. Chairman of the European Club Association will be Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, German chairman of Bayern Munich.
Issues to be considered at the meeting will be the possible rescheduling of the African Nations Cup, possibly Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer to Real Madrid, and other administrative issues.
