The Scottish Football Association (SFA) chairman, Jim McBeth, was elected on to FIFA's executive commitee on Monday, winning a four-way battle with the other British associations.
Britain has a permanent vice-presidential seat on the committee, FIFA's top decision-making body, and McBeth succeeds compatriot David Will, who retired last year.
Geoffrey Thompson of England, Peter Rees of Wales and Jim Boyce of Northern Ireland were also standing for the vacant seat.
